Jean Pronovost

Jean began his NHL career in 1968 with the Penguins and went on to play till 1982 with the Atlanta Flames and Washington Capitals. Pronovost was the first player in Penguins franchise history to hit the 100 point mark. I love the helmet in the 79-80 card as it clearly says Stan Mikita II on the front.

Steve Thomas

Steve Thomas has played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, Anaheim Mighty Ducks and Detroit Red Wings over the course of 20 seasons. Some of the first games I ever saw on TV revolved around Steve Thomas and the New York Islanders when he used to kill it. He's one of those solid all-around players that really develops a team into a team with real grit and backbone.

Basil McRae

Breaking through the 1980 entry draft with the Quebec Nordiques, Basil McRae has also played with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota North Stars, Tampa Bay Lightning, St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks. I distinctly remember Basil from the movie The Mighty Ducks, where him and North Stars teammate Mike Modano are big up'ing Gordon Bombay to his District 5 team. McRae is now a scout with the St. Louis Blues and part-owner of the OHL's London Knights.

"Terrible" Ted Lindsay

Robert Blake Theodore Lindsay. The man, the myth, the legend. An Art Ross trophy winner, four-time Stanley Cup champion and Hockey Hall of Famer, Terrible Ted was the pinnacle peak of hockey excellence in the day. Ted created the NHLPA to combat the NHL's unfair iron rule of pick pocketing their own players. Ted played for Detroit before being traded by Chicago where he would retire. When Sid Abel became coach of the Red Wings in 1964, he would call on Ted to make a comeback where Ted leaped out of retirement and played one final season with Detroit. Mr. Lindsay also started the now famous routine of skating around the ice with the Stanley Cup.

Stan Smyl

Stan Smyl was all franchise. Starting his career in 1978 with the Vancouver Canucks he played every season with the team until his eventual retirement in 1991. His number 12 along with Trevor Linden's 16 are the only numbers retired in Vancouver. What I love about Stan is his intensity, leadership and drive to win. I remember watching a video about Stan and being completely blown away. I wish as a kid I could've watched more of his games.

Trevor Linden

Trevor Linden. Drafted second overall by the Vancouver Canucks in 1988. Nicknamed Captain Canuck and showed dedication and leadership season after season with Vancouver. In 1997 he was traded to the New York Islanders as I remember being in Vancouver and watching his comeback game against the Canucks on Pay-Per-View. He also played for very brief stints with the Washington Capitals and Montreal Canadiens before coming back to Vancouver to end his career. Amazing, amazing dude who devotes alot of his time to charity.

Norm Ullman

Norm Ullman was a rookie with the Detroit Red Wings 54 years ago. One of the greatest players ever to never win a Stanley Cup. He ended up playing for Toronto around the end of his NHL career and the Edmonton Oilers for the end of his hockey career overall in the WHA. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982 and also the first famous guy I ever met in my life when I was 8 years old.
